Data Models of Accounting Information Systems Essay Example

Data Models of Accounting Information Systems Essay In Accounting Information Systems, the object is the economic entrepreneur and the information store which is needed in a structural way so the data may be consistent and integrated. Reality modeling of the components around the economic unit is very important for building an obedient system which stores the information ABA the economic unit. In the beginning of Accounting Information Systems modeling of the data was made by materializing the processes of the economic unit into process which the computer may process fast and with fewer errors than humans. This model didnt take into consideration the Truckee of traditional data of the discipline of accounting. They stored the model intact as it was described by Bacilli during Renaissance. The Conservatism really the half accounting profession. So the the change from a stable model and hashishs appendicitis in use numeration millennium in a new model would not be easy accepted from the community unless the new model wasnt clear enough and usable. The Traditional Model uses statements to prevent errors and repetitions in computing. As the computers do the calculations very fast and without error there is no need for these statements. So the statements are just converted virtual views that contains the information processed and is viewed as man times as the user need. Beginning from the years 1975 until the beginning of 80 a number of change happened in the Celled of data modeling in general and in the modeling of data in Accounting Information Systems. AREA Model In 1979 William E. McCarthy on his thesis An entity-Relationship View of Accounting Models introduced a model which is now implemented in the most famous ASS and ERP. Etc. Importance can be given to the Clinician information system (e. G. ERP) which doesnt eve anything from traditional system. The procedure which is recommended to be taken while building an ASS model is: His suppose was based on the postulate: ASS may be naturally simulated on a relational database which contains real world entity and relations between these entities. In his thesis he emphasized the need to not be focused on the model: Transaction Table + Double Entry Principle which restraint the 3. . McCarthy is being thanked in a lot of books about ASS as the person who had the courage to think different from the others. Double Entry Principle seems that it makes a lot of information redundancy, but in fact this doesnt happen. This principle means that we have to register at the same time the taking or letting of a good or service with the corresponding balanced amount In money or credit of the taking or letting. There isnt redundancy; these arent different actions but complementary ones. Figure 1: Process example A schematic presentation of the above rules for a process example. Cthulhu in Pop Culture Professor Ramos Blog

Cthulhu in Pop Culture This being is everywhere in pop culture, but no one has any idea who he is. He has shown up in multiple forms of media ranging from T.V. shows and movies, to video games, and even a presidential campaign in his honor. As his presidential slogan says, â€Å"Abandon the pathetically lesser evils, and vote for the Greatest Evil.† (Olive). This greatest evil is Cthulhu from the Cthulhu Mythos made by H.P. Lovecraft. The big question is, why is Cthulhu so big in pop culture today? Cthulhu is a monster that was created by H.P. Lovecraft in 1926 and is still very relevant in the world today, but more needs to be said about him before it will make sense why a monster that is almost 100 years old is still around today. In the universe he was created in, he is a â€Å"Great Old One†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (Lovecraft). Which is what people might more commonly known as an Eldritch god. An eldritch god is a being with incomprehensible power that takes the form of a horrible monster that drives you insane just by looking at them. Cthulhu is no different from that description as he is multiple stories tall, a squid like head, tentacles around his mouth, giant wings, sharp claws, and full black eyes like volcanic rock. He also has the ability to manipulate hundreds of thousands of people with his mind at the same time, and he is so giant compared to humans that in his book he picks up two sailors with one hand, and â€Å" The sailors were devoured whole†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (Lovecraft 3). Cthulhu is horrifying and truly a being of nightmares. According to the article done by Auroch Digital â€Å"†¦ it comes down to two reasons why Cthulhu is still relevant: The ‘open source’ nature of the original Mythos means it was born within the concept of others adding their own take to it. [and] The core theme of the Mythos, that humanity is but a minor footnote in the history of Earth, speaks to us as part of our own fear and fascination with death and the concept of ‘the apocalypse’† (Digital 1). The first concept is easy to grasp. When you put work into something you start to care for it more and more as you put more work into it. This was a big part of making Cthulhu as popular as he is today, because so many people have added to him, to make him what he is today. With so many people adding things to this horrifying monster, it helps the monster live longer in multiple cultures. The second concept is the more complicated of the two, but with a bit of explaining and help from 1 of the 7 monster theories made by Jeffrey Cohen it will make a lot more sense. Monster theory is the combination of 7 theses that are used to â€Å"[Understand] cultures through the monsters they bear† (Cohen 4). All of the theses go more into depth on the reasons why a monster is created and would be enjoyed among the culture it was created in. Some of these theories apply more to different monsters then they do others. In Cthulhu’s case the theory â€Å"The monster is the harbinger of a category crisis† works the best to explaining why Cthulhu became so popular (Cohen 6). Cthulhu is a monster that is always the cause of horrible unimaginable things, causing chaos and destruction in his wake, because of this he is â€Å"’ a revolution to the very logic of meaning’† (Cohen 7). The idea of something that forces people to come to realizations of possible death and destruction are very interesting to us. Cthulhu always appears at the time of a crisis, most of the time the crisis being his fault in the first place. The way he was able to do this just never got old as people kept rewriting his story and adding to it. It made it more appealing to each culture it was rewritten by. In the end, the culture created a very real living and breathing monster that not only everyone is afraid of, but they are intrigued by. With people still adding to his stories and using him in works of their own this has caused him to show up in many different places over the past 94 years, ranging from a simple ‘hat tip’ in Lovecraft’s direction to a full on game centered around Cthulhu himself. The Cthulhu universe A.K.A. The Cthulhu Mythos can be seen referenced back as far as 1961 in the film Gorgo, but one of the earliest direct references to Cthulhu outside of his mythos is in the T.V. series â€Å"The Real Ghostbusters (1986-1991) with the episode being season 2 episode 41 ‘The Collect Call of Cthulhu’ (1987)† (Lovecraft Wiki). The recreation of Cthulhu will continue on for years as Cthulhu continues to show up in or have an influence on a multitude of other T.V. shows, films, novels, and games. Some of the more popular of things he has influenced are: The Mist, The Cabin in the Woods, The Justice League, Star Trek, DC Comics, The Witcher series, and the Fallout series. Because of Cthulhu’s appearance in all of these different places and times, he has been a big part of pop culture. People would grow up seeing and hearing works made with this monster in it that would leave people fearful but curious for more. This would cause Cthulhu to keep reappearing in more things as these people, that heard about him, made their own works with him making the cycle repeat again. Some of the more recent pop culture works he has been in and/ or influenced are: The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, South Park, Supernatural, Robot Chicken, Stranger Things, Rick and Morty, Gravity Falls, The Elder Scrolls series, Resident Evil, even Grand Theft Auto V has a mask modeled after Cthulhu’s Head. The list goes on and on, and there is no way a single list can hold all of his references, there are just to many. He has been so popular recently that there has even been people trying to campaign him for the presidential election. Cthulhu is a big part of our culture because of all the things we use him in, and all of the arts he has influenced Anywhere from old radio stories he starred in, to modern films and TV shows he is heavily referenced in. He is a great monster that will continue to be rewritten to fit the fears of current society around death and the apocalypse; and continue to be used by many people do to the fact that he is open source. Both of those facts have made Cthulhu relevant in pop culture and some predictions believe that this relevance will keep him in pop culture for many years to come. Works Cited Cohen, Jeffrey Jerome. Professional Application - Essay Example The different platforms have successfully delivered the objectives of the business and created credibility of the brand and helped developed committed database of clientele and niche market. Introduction Integrated marketing techniques have emerged as powerful way of processing communication and sending critical messages across wider database of users and customers (Kotler et al., 2007). The synergistic mix of promotional channels has increasingly become more effective and efficient way to market goods and products. Marketing communication therefore is being conceptualized as an approach to business, making it an integral part of business strategy and planning (Wilson and Gilligan, 2003). It is vital element of business as it helps to develop committed clientele whose changing preferences are met through customization of products and services that meet their requirements. Indeed, in the age of advancing technology, customers have become more informed and put greater pressure on the m arketers. Looking at these various compulsions, Steve Madden footwear would use three different formats of media to market its products which are described as below. Part 1 Media choice 1: Broadcast advertising Broadcast advertising encompasses television and radio based advertising. Steve Madden is well-established footwear brand that needs to maintain its niche market position through unique advertising that can reach mass customer base to maintain its competitive edge in the industry. Television advertising at prime time would be used to target segmented demographic market. Television is powerful medium that influences consumer behavior through its visual and textual content that are able to connect with people’s ideas regarding the products and services. Its major objective would be to influence the buying behavior of the customers and motivate them to use their products. The secondary goals would be to maintain its visibility and create awareness regarding the robustness of the Steve Madden shoes that are preferred by the celebrities who endorse them on advertisements. The main advantage would be that it would create mass awareness of its new product lines and help people to evaluate and process the information as visual content tends to be remembered longer than print media. It exploits modelling theory that relies on observing the behaviour of others that often results in positive outcome (Schiffman & Kanuk, 2007). People identify with models and events and eventually get motivated to buy the product. The key disadvantage is the massive budget that could be difficult to maintain for long. Television advertising is expensive but as it is also the most effective platform of marketing goods, the decision would be beneficial for the company on a macro basis. The advertisement would use sports celebrity for showcasing its rough and tough product line in sports channel during rugby and baseball matches. It would use local channels and regional distribu tion channels as advertising platform. Entertainment channel at prime time on local television would target women and children. Advertisements on sports channel would target teenagers and young professional. The entertainment channel would focus on women and children and would use emotional appeal to influence their purchase behavior. The advertisements would be shown on break-time till matches last or the soap or entertainment program runs in the

Islamic Terrorism - Research Paper Example But the attacks reveal more hatred for Western culture and intolerance towards other religion than any such religious preaching. Moreover misinterpretations of Islam, particularly the word jihad have been the root cause of terrorism. The Islamic terrorists and extremists have preached false religious beliefs to capture young minds. This has been proved by the review of literature of other research works as well as appropriate findings and analysis. The intensity of terrorism has risen to such a level that it has become a global issue. The Western countries like United States have been the major victims of such attacks. Thousands of people lost their lives in the 9/11 terror attacks. The killers have been Islamic terrorist who have made it a religious issue. They follow militant Islam which has a lot of deviations from the original teachings of Islam. Islam has assumed a violent image due to such terrorists which is not really the case. Clearly the Islamic terrorists have vastly misin terpreted the religion contributing towards its violent image (Emerson). Islam has always taught maintenance of peace. But some unscrupulous religious fanatics have been molding the religion as to their desire and giving lessons of violence to millions of Muslims. That is why it has been seen that Islamic nations do not give freedom of religion to its people (Richardson, Foreword). Even if the violenc

Impact of Strategic Planning Processes

Impact of Strategic Planning Processes 1. Briefly explain strategic management in your own words. Strategic management is the process of describe the organizations mission, vision and objectives, developing policies and plans, projects and programs in order to achieve the objectives of the firm, and then distribute resources to conduct the policies and plans, projects and programs. In other words, strategic management is the ways of drafting, implementing and evaluating cross-functional decisions that will enable an organization to achieve its long-term objectives. (David, 1989). Strategic management involves adapting the organization to its business environment. Strategic management is a level of managerial activity under setting goals and over Tactics. Strategic management provides overall direction to the enterprise. The features of the strategic managements are as following: Strategic management is non-repetitive so each conditions is unique and requires to be assessed in its own circumstances. Strategic management provides direction to entire organization. Strategic management requires strategy formation and implementation. Strategic management is partially planned and partially unplanned. Strategic management is done at several levels: overall corporate strategy, and individual business strategies. Strategic management involves both conceptual and analytical thought processes. In conclusion, strategic management is an ongoing process that evaluates and controls the business and the industries in which the company is involved; assesses its competitors and sets goals and strategies to meet all existing and potential competitors; and then reassesses each strategy annually or quarterly to determine how it has been implemented and whether it has succeeded or needs replacement by a new strategy to meet changed circumstances, new technology, new competitors, a new economic environment., or a new social, financial, or political environment (Lamb, 1984). 2. How do you explain the success of firms that do not use a formal strategic planning process? Success in todays business environment requires that a companys leaders have the ability to create a vision of the organizations future direction as well as the course it needs to get there. Strategic management is concerned with the future success of the business and may entail major changes in the benefits to be offered customers, in organizational capacity, and in competitive posture. When we look at the internal and external factors in the business we are doing, we see that the factors such as market segments, competition, economy, regulations, etc. are changing regularly. Without challenging all of those working assumptions, particularly market segments, competition, opportunities, threats, industry scenario and winners profile, the company cannot craft their revised course and direction, goals, objectives and action plans. So, strategic planning helps organization set a much clearer direction for the future. If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail. By acting on this, strategic management actually gives the organization direction, a sense of identity and unity towards what the business goal. Strategic management has an importance of towards business success. In conclusion, strategic management takes into consideration the companys vision and mission. Strategic management helps in achieving the organizational goals in an effective and efficient manner and monitoring the implementation of strategy using a system interlinked with the long term vision of the corporations. Improved strategic management processes may also facilitate the development of the more complex management structural that are needed as firms grow. 3. Few people reach the top-management level. Why, then, is it important for all business majors to study the field of strategic management? Management is known as the highest level of business planning. Strategic Managements focus is to build a strong business foundation which will subsequently reflect on collaborated efforts involving each and every single individual of an organization so strategic management process is the concern of every single person in the organization because of this issue, it is important for all business majors to study the field of strategic management. In more detailed terms, strategic management determines what the objectives of a business are. How to develop the ways of achieving the determined objectives and what are the resources needed in order to achieve the objectives. It also covers the core objectives of an organization; it involves developing a mission statement wherein it covers the landscape assessment of the organization, such as how the operations would run and who will be the people assigned to play the key roles within the organizations landscape. Another area is the vision statement, wherein through Strategic Management, the organization will establish key objectives to respond to the gray areas and unmet needs of their business, deciding for which will entail consideration of both short-term and long-term offerings of the organization. Every person included major should study the strategic management in order to know and implement their responsibilities towards the companys missions. The next step of strategic management is to develop a strategic plan which will efficiently and effectively run in order to meet their goals and objectives. In formulating a strategic plan, Strategic Management comes in to delegate individuals who are equipped with the adequate knowledge, experience and skills with the needs and objectives of the business. After delegation, distribution of responsibilities for tasks and processes will follow which calls for the combined efforts of all employees, in this phase they would need to effectively communicate their responsibilities and determine their deliverables. As a final point, strategic management calls for the allocation of the precise quantity of resources to the diverse aspects of the business in order for those assigned to the specific goals will be able to attain their objectives. This varies from providing the employees with the exact resources to ratifying systems wherein employees will receive the essential and needed training, all processes of work are tested, and at the same time all generated data and information is well documented. In order to effectively and strategically manage the business, every facet of the organization should meet their needs so that in the long run, all aspects of the work involved will run seamlessly and will function as an integrated whole. 4. In what ways do you believe the strategic planning approach of not-for-profit organizations would differ from that of profit-oriented organizations? Simply put, strategic planning determines where an organization is going over the next year or more, how its going to get there and how itll know if it got there or not. The focus of a strategic plan is usually on the entire organization. The focus of the planning activities is often different between for-profits and nonprofits. The typical profit seeking firm relies almost solely on the sale of its good and services to the public for its sales and revenue. For-profits tend to focus more on activities to maximize profit. On the other hand, nonprofits tend to focus more on matters of board development, fundraising and volunteer management. Not-for-profit organizations also serve the public as profit seeking companies but those firms mostly depend on membership fees, endowments, donations, contributions in addition to revenue. Their priority is not maximizing their profit because they have other incomes. So the target usage of strategic planning is different for profit seeking and not for profit organizations. However, not for profit organizations may use strategic planning for their fund raising operations. A strategic plan doesnt guarantee theyll reach or exceed their fund-raising goals. But at the very least, it provides them with a clear, well-lighted path to reach them. Fund raising in the absence of a good strategic plan is like going on a hike in the middle of the night without a flashlight or map. In conclusion, because of the structure and target difference between profit seeking and not for profit organizations, their priorities about revenue are different. So they use strategic planning for different purposes. Case Study Exercises: 1. What do Michael Moores documentary, wealthy Saudi investors such as the bin Laden family, George H.W. Bush, and former Prime Minister John Major have to do with the transformation of the Carlyl Group? When the founders of the company close to the retirement age, they decided to refashion their firm radically. They want their firm more ambitious, more diverse and more lasting. Before the decision, some of the wealthy Saudi investors had some money into the company. After 9/11, those Saudi investors might create a bad image on to public eye because none of the US citizen, want any of the company, person or country that support the terrorism. So, giving back of the Saudi investors money would be a big strike for the company. For instance, The Saudi Arabian relatives of Osama bin Laden were also investors in Carlyle until October 2001 when the family sold its $2.02 million investment back to the firm in light of the public controversy surrounding bin Ladens family after the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001. The bin Laden family has publicly disowned the al-Qaeda leader. Osama bin Laden has not publicly known or acknowledged economic interest in Saudi Binladin Group (SBG), whose investments were in part managed by the Carlyle Group until the arrangement was terminated by mutual consent (bibliotecapleyades.net). The other point is George H. W. Bush and John Mayor were their senior advisers. According to new radical change of Carlyle, it was told that those two were no longer a member of the Carlyle Family because they hurt the companys image. 2. Discuss two of the red flags that accompany Carlyls radical makeover. One of the red flag is regulations. U.S department of justice sent a letter to Carlyle asking information on club deals because the company was making good deals and their earnings are so big. Also the other issue is their huge portfolio caught the interest of the Federal Trade Commission. They made some constraints about their buyouts. The other red flag is easy access to capitals because easy access to capital now can set up big trouble for later on. If interest rates rise, opportunities to refinance dept will disappear, cash flows will shrivel and bankruptcies will occur. So, Carlyle made faster its buyouts and selling issues. For example, they bought the Hertz for $15 billion, just after 6 months, they earned $1billion dividend. Then they promptly took it to public again. 3. What steps has Carlyl taken to implement a participative approach to strategic decision making? After they decided to make radical change in company, they first started to change their image on public eye. They asked binladen family to take back their money. Also they wanted George H. W Bush and J. Mayer to leave the company. They hired new and publicly regarded people to underscore Carlyles commitment to portfolio diversification and upright corporate citizenship. Carlyle also pared back its defense holdings. In next stage they redefine the very nature of private equity. Carlyle has spread its money among no fewer than 48 funds around the world and launched a mind boggling 11 in 2005 and 11 in 2006. Also they diversed their expertise about buyouts and deals in a broad swath of alternative assets such as venture capital, real estate, collateralized debt organizations. Also they expect to increase the percentage of those other alternative assets. The other thing is, they avoid risks. According to them the more diverse the assets mean the better risk-adjusted returns. Strategic Management Plan 1 Describe your chosen business for this project in a one-page summary. I want to mention about Tesco PLC. Tesco PLC is a United Kingdom-based international supermarket chain. It is the largest British retailer, both by global sales and by domestic market share, and the fourth largest retailer in the world behind Wal-Mart of the United States, Carrefour of France, and The Home Depot of the United States. Tesco has a market value of about  £29.090 billion. Tesco has become quite a successful hypermarket today; expanding to countries like Hungary, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, South Korea and Malaysia and many more other countries. Its success is shown not only in its physical expansion, but in its internal control as well. Tesco is one of largest food retailers in the world, operating around 2,318 stores and employing over 326,000 people (tescoplc.com) Originally specializing in food, it has diversified into areas such as clothes, consumer electronics, consumer financial services, selling and renting DVDs, compact discs and music downloads, internet service consumer telecoms and most recently budget software. Also in recent years they expanded their product range to organic foods, healthy living/light choices, world foods, wholefoods, bakeryà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¦ etc. Tesco practices the systematic delegation of the power within the organization; there are different roles and responsibilities assign among the executive committee, nomination committee, remuneration committee and audit committee to run the business efficiently and in an orderly manner. Their mission statement is creating value for customers to earn their lifetime loyalty. I can willingly say that this mission statement definitely shows Tescos approach to their customer. As I worked at one of Tescos branch for 6 months as the supplier to Tesco, they choose all the products for the stores meticulously. Their aim is to bring healthy, safe but cheap products into the stores. So their customers know that in spite of their cheap prices, their products are safe and healthy and they can buy and use them without hesitating. They create such an atmosphere and this pursuit carries them among top retail stores. 2 What form of communication about the strategic management process would be helpful to the employees in your organization prior to beginning the process? In my opinion, the determination of mission statements, and acceptance and implementation of them would be helpful to the employees in my organization at the beginning of the strategic management process because the mission statement defines the purpose of a company or organization. In clear terms it is guide the actions of the organization, spell out its overall goal, provide a sense of direction, and guide decision-making. Mission statements contains of the purpose and aim of the organization, the organizations primary stakeholders: clients, stockholders, congregation, etc., responsibilities of the organization toward these stakeholders, and products and services offered. Mission of the company communicates the firm ´s core ideology and visionary goals. It should contain the company ´s core values, core purpose and visionary goals. While the visionary goals are selected the core values and purpose of the firms should be discovered. Values and purpose are in the company already, the mission just describes them. So, every strategic management process starts with the understanding of the actions and goals by the employees. Actually, the mission statement does not only deal with employees. Every single person in the organization should know the missi on of the organization and behave accordingly. In my organization the mission statement of Tesco is Creating value for customers, to earn their lifetime loyalty. In spite of their cheap retail price pursuit, they never give up from the design quality and safety of the products. When the Tesco buyers trying to put trendy styles to the stores, they also seek the safe and healthy products for costumers. So it means that the customer can buy the high quality and trendy products by paying very little money. This policy overlaps with the mission statement. The customers are happy with their purchase, they would come again and thus Tesco would earn their lifetime loyalty. So, that mission statement creates a force on employees that they should create such products to earn their lifetime loyalty. Every person in the organization pursue towards that goal. Whatever their duty is in the organization, their goal is the same so they are locked to achieve it.

Knowledge Is Weakness

Knowledge is Weakness The phrase â€Å"knowledge is power† implies that with knowledge one’s potential or abilities in life will surely increase. Having and sharing knowledge is generally regarded as a basis for improving one’s reputation and thus power. In this modern sense, knowledge seems to be a positive notion that improves quality of life, but in fact through the study of biblical text it is clear that the acquisition of knowledge has not always brought positive results. In the book of Genesis, Adam and Eve were the first people to recognize that the result of knowledge is harmful and so is the â€Å"power† it brings. The consequence of knowing is not power; knowledge is a damaging force that is not all good like the modern western world believes, but rather it creates fear, weakness and makes life more difficult. Adam and Eve’s desires to know good and evil causes them to be fearful and disgraceful, not powerful like god. Adam and Eve lived in the Garden of Eden, a wonderful place where they could â€Å"eat freely out of every tree† except for the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Gen 2. 16). Everything god created was good, and no evil existed in the Garden of Eden.Adam and Eve were specifically warned not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil or they would die. When Eve learned from the serpent that the forbidden fruit would make her â€Å"like god† and give her â€Å"knowledge of good and evil†, they disobeyed god’s instructions. Incapable to control their hunger for knowledge, Adam and Eve ate the fruit that god specifically forbid them from enjoying. They immediately realized they were naked and when god came looking for them they hid since Adam and Eve were â€Å"afraid because [they] were naked. Adam and Eve’s actions, a direct result of their desire to know, made them afraid and shameful, not powerful. Instead of existing forever in a garden where everyth ing was good, the knowledge that Adam and Eve gained has afflicted man with fear and disgrace that cannot be undone. Adam and Eve are shunned from the Garden of Eden, and their lives become tremendously more difficult due to their unrelenting desire to know. They lived in a place where a gracious god gave them fruit to eat, and everything was good. When the serpent explained to Eve that she could be like god and know good and evil, she could not curb her desire to become â€Å"wise† (Gen 3. 6). Adam and Eve ate from the forbidden tree and gained knowledge about good and evil. God realized that Adam and Eve had disobeyed him, and he punished them severely. The punishment included being shunned from their home in the Garden of Eden. Women would now have great â€Å"pain in childbirth† and men will toil the land for their own food (Gen 3. 16).This new knowledge did not make them powerful, but instead the consequences made them weak. The lives of humans became exponentially more difficult due to the knowledge that Adam and Eve gained. Adam and Eve became weak because of their new knowledge, not powerful like western society believes is the result of knowledge. The knowledge that Adam and Eve received after eating the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil does not give them power but has a polar opposite effect.Once they disobey god to pursue knowledge, they become fearful and weak. There is good knowledge and bad knowledge; though the modern world seems to forget the biblical example of Adam and Eve which demonstrates how dangerous the pursuit of knowledge can be. There is a dark side to knowledge, and the results that it brings can be disastrous. One must never forget the example of Adam and Eve which commands us to be aware of the knowledge that we pursue and the implications that that knowledge has.
